Ok after watching that video...

Those portals just scream 'Stargate' and the bit just before it really does look like the Dwarven City from LoTR. We'd better not be doing a Gandelf in there...

It would also help if i could remember the names of the area and monster!

That would be Moria (Khazad-dûm (Mansions of the Dwarves)) and the Balrog.

Wow, they're really going hardcore on this, aren't they?

So not only are you screwed (supposedly) when you die in the instance, you also lose gold??? Hah, that is just too awesome.

The difference is that gold in D2 was pretty much worthless. So, why did it matter?

I just hope it is little, because I'm poor.

This article made me cringe. This is the WORST written article, by anyone, about anything. Example:

Quote:
You can still exit a dungeon for another fresh attempt at victory or resurrect your own party members—a useful feature for the more casual player who might not get it right the first time.
That's right. Read that a couple of times. In fact, I'll bold it for you.

OH REALLY? DOES THAT MEAN I CAN RESURRECT TEAM MATES? WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED IN THE LAST 3 GAMES?

So basically they are going to have boosts in their attack, movement, casting, and recharge of skills as well as an absurd amounts of health and armor. Oh, an yet more monster skills, maybe a buffed version of Enraged?

I think he's refering to going back to outposts; i.e. you "come back to life" after zoning out.

Just politically incorrect terminology.

I sure hope that the dungeons aren't linear, and if it's your first time through, and you're not looking at a guildwiki map, that it'll actually take some exploring to get from point A to point B, which, in GW, is too often a straight line (well, a non-branching path)

No, it's a nice way of saying "you get booted out in case of a wipe"... which is worse

Im thinkin it could be nice and atmospheric so im not really worried. Im more worried about GW2 and the new playable races. I think the main reason GW feels so communal is the fact that everyones human. I think if they out in new playable races it will lose that communal feeling and become a bit less personal and involving.

^ I'm more concerned that they'll go down the route of restricting some professions to certain races or sexes. I'd hope not, as it wouldn't really fit with GW as a whole. F'rinstance, in Archlord I could only play a ranger or warrior as a male.

I read this as the same mechanic we've always had as well. Although it does beg the question - are there no res shrines? Which would put it in the 'kicked back to the last outpost' category in the event of a party wipe. That may even be a badly worded explanation of a res shrine.

/shrug.

Sounds like Anet, reads like Anet... yup, thats an Anet 'hard' boost alright.

As the possibility of loosing gold when you die goes. If they did implement such a thing it would get removed so fast when people started quiting the game after getting sick of players leaving just before death to avoid a gold penalty.

That bit about ressurecting really makes no sense at all... at least get someone to write it who actually plays GW.

I don't believe the writer is saying you will have your gold stolen.

I think he was looking for a way to say, "where monsters die, there is loot for players."

It came out as, "Where blood is shed, wealth is stolen." I really don't think any of your wealth will be "stolen."

Also, I think it would be interesting if certain types of deaths would "permanently" kill hero/henches. Permanently for the duration of the dungeon, that is. This would be the ultimate way to re-encourage people to group again. Of course, given the clarity of the prose int he IGN article, it's anyone's guess.

But that's a given. Why would the restate the obvious?
